Company Background: DCS Security Alarms is considered to be one of the most trustworthy manufacturers in the security alarm industry. They also offer an inventory of top of the line products for home security. The company has been innovative in the development of security keypads and micro-processor based alarm panel systems since 1979. The company is headquartered in Toronto with security product lines selling globally in more than 140 countries.
Monitoring Services: DCS security systems offer dialing capabilities so alerts can automatically contact a monitoring station that will alert homeowners when alarms sound and can contact authorities and emergency responders during actual emergencies. DCS systems also provide protection for smoke detection, carbon monoxide, low temperatures, and flooding.
Benefits: Alarm system components are upgradable; offer false alarm reduction features; large name monitoring services including ADT will support the DSC alarm systems.
Technology: DSC alarm systems are available in hard-wired formats with many systems offering affordable home protection based on needs. DSC security alarms also entail a wireless control panel. This pane can offer support for up to 32 wireless zones in the home or for business locations. The security zones can incorporate many of your home’s door and window areas. The sensors are motion activated and more effective at detecting movement than other alarm systems as alarm signals travel through cords rather than relying on radio waves. The DSC’s Alexor model offers support for 32 wireless sensors and the more expanded DSC Power Series offer control for 32 hardwired zones in addition to 32 wireless zones.
Cost: Ranges from $60 for basic alarm kits to over $500 for more advanced wireless system kits.
Overall Impression: There are many DSC systems and components available and each offers something different to the consumer. Customers will need to check out the features of each panel system to find which kit will handle their security concerns.
The DSC alarm system has been proven to be both effective at security control and cost-effective for homeowners. There are no batteries to be concerned with as the system’s sensors are directly connected to the control panel. With so many options to select from in home security components, consumers may have difficulty selecting the right system for their home protection needs.
There have been some customer complaints about the system’s manual which is said to contain a lot of technical information which may be confusing to customers. Additional complaints involve the company’s customer service operators.

I did not activate alarm system when I moved here 9 years ago. Today I had workmen here, and when I heard a beeping sound as we spoke in the hallway, he said it was his watch. He has left and the alarm light is on. The beep continued, and by pressing buttons randomly, it finally quit.. Now both the armed and trouble light are on. I live alone and am I being paranoid to be troubled by this incident? Please reply. They will be back Monday ,8/6. Can I expect a reply???
Hi Carol, it sounds like the technician will have to come to your home and figure out what went wrong. Did you activate an alarm system that is 9 years old? It’s very possible that you had compatibility issues due to using outdated hardware.
